Death And Taxes

“I am the resurrection and the life, he who believes in me, even though he die, yet shall he live.” John 11:25

Have you ever heard the saying, “The only things that are certain in life are death and taxes.” Well, yesterday was tax day, and if you are like Sherry and I, we have both paid our taxes.

The other thing that is certain is death. Hebrews 9:27 says “It is appointed unto men to die once and then comes the judgment.” Since I have been back in Southern California, I have officiated 7 funeral services. Some have been believers and some were not. It is always more comforting and reassuring for me when I know the person has accepted Jesus into their hearts and lives.

Three weeks ago, we celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus. In John 11:25 Jesus claimed to be the resurrection and the life”. Why is the resurrection important? Because if Jesus did not rise from the dead we are still in our sins and have no hope for eternal life in heaven. For those who have placed their faith and hope in Jesus, we can be assured that they are in heaven in a place that God has prepared especially for them. The resurrection is at the heart of our faith and it is what gives us hope in life.

Thought For Today: What does the resurrection of Jesus mean to you? Are you assured of your salvation? Do you have the hope of heaven? If so, give thanks to God for the glorious gift of salvation you have because Jesus rose from the dead.

Today’s Prayer Focus: Continue to remember the Furuta family in prayer. Pray for others you may know that they would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus. Deo Volente.
