Don’t Complain, Pray!!!

And they said to Moses, ‘Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt?’” Exodus 14:11

For the past week, our Wintersburg Church Staff has been on a retreat in Palm Desert. Although this is late September, the temperatures are still hot. Yesterday’s temperatures were in the 90’s. For me, I love the desert, I love the sunny weather. I love to go for walks in the evening and feel the warmth. I wonder however, how I would feel if I had to live in the hot sunny desert for 40 years?

When the Israelites left Egypt, they weren’t excited about spending time in the desert. After God sent a series of plagues, Pharaoh finally agreed to release the Israelites. But as they made their way to a new land, they came to what looked like an insurmountable obstacle, The Red Sea. To make matters worse, they looked up to see the Egyptian army coming after them. They went to Moses and complained, “Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!” Exodus 14:11–12

So Moses began to pray, and the Lord told him to lift his staff over the Red Sea, the waters parted, and the Israelites walked through on dry ground. Then the waters collapsed on the pursuing Egyptian army.

Thought for Today: Do you find yourself today in some type of desert? Maybe it is a time of trial and hardship and you don’t know why you are there. The lesson we learn from Moses, is, “don’t complain about it, pray about it.

Today’s Prayer Focus: Whatever the trial you are facing today, pray about it and don’t complain. Deo Volente.
