God’s Creation
“The heavens declare the glory of God.” Psalm 19:2
As I prepare to return to Monterey in a couple of weeks, several people have mentioned that they want to visit Monterey and go on the “Ted Tour” I would love to show people the sights and sounds of Monterey in places such as Point Lobos, the Big Sur coastline, 17 Mile Drive, Cannery Row and other places. Previously when I had visitors they would often say, “You live in such a beautiful place!”
I guess so often I’ve taken for granted that I live in such a beautiful place. To wake up each morning and see the ocean and to enjoy the spectacular sunsets.
All of creation points to the Creator. Psalm 19:1-2 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge" There's something about examining a delicate flower or admiring the waves rush to shore that reminds us we are not accidents, and our God is an awesome God!
Creation is not the only thing God uses to show us His power, His grace, and His love. He gave us His Word to tell us who He is, who we are, and how much He loves us.
The Bible is something that we should not take for granted. No matter how many times we have read the Bible, it never changes and always has something valuable for us. Psalm 19:7-9 says, God's Word is perfect, refreshing to the soul, and gives us wisdom and joy God's Word will always be true and is confirmed by His creation.
Thought For Today: What is one way you have been amazed by God’s creation? What is one amazing thing God has shown you through reading the Bible? What is one step you can take to begin reading the Bible more consistently?
Today’s Prayer Focus: Take time today to thank God for His beautiful creation. Thank God for His Word and for the way it reveals to us who God is. Deo Volente.
