Are You Ready?

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:10

As I was watching the evening news last night, there was a story of a young man in New York who was sitting on a bench with his girlfriend when he was attacked and killed by an 18 year old man. Senseless acts of violence like this take place everyday across our country and around the world.

The first century disciples asked Jesus, “What will be the sign of your coming and the end of the age?” (Matthew 24:3) In the midst of his teaching, Jesus replied, “Keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” (Matthew 24:42) In a way, Jesus urges his followers to “seize the day because no one knows when he will return. But we do know that each of us will come face to face with Jesus and give an account of how we have lived for him. Each of us in large measure determines how that encounter will go. Jesus wants us to be ready no matter when He returns because we must all appear before Him to give an account of our lives.

Thought For Today: Reflect on the question, “Am I Ready?” How would I live my life differently if I knew that I had only a day, a month, a year to live?

Today’s Prayer Focus: Pray that you, your family, and our WPC family will be ready to give our account to Jesus when we appear before the judgment seat. Deo Volente.
