Don’t Take A Single Day For Granted
“It is good to be alive. Nothing on earth is more beautiful than the gift of the morning sun. Don’t take a single day for granted. Take delight in each light-filled hour. Even if you live to be a ripe old age, you should try to enjoy each day because you will die and then darkness will come and it will last a long time. And after you are dead you cannot do anything. So, enjoy life while you are young.”
Ecclesiastes 11:7-8
On Wednesday at the Women’s Bible Study, I was asked if I missed Monterey. The answer is yes, I shared that I miss waking up and seeing the Monterey Bay from my kitchen table. I miss my daughter Sherry.
Growing up, I thought everyone woke up seeing the ocean. It wasn’t until I went away to Fresno State that I realized just how much I took for granted growing up in Monterey.
Have you ever considered how much you take for granted? We often take our health, our families, our jobs, and so many other things for granted. In Ecclesiastes 11:7-9 Solomon warned us about taking life for granted.
Thought For Today: Are you taking life for granted? Who or what are you taking for granted? What changes will you make today to appreciate the blessings that God has given to you?
Today’s Prayer Focus: In this season of Thanksgiving, be sure to count your blessings, and especially that you will not take those blessings for granted. Deo Volente.
