Create In Me A Clean Heart

“Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10

Before I came down here from Monterey, Carlos Gutierrez and Kris Pei were busy looking for a place for me to stay. I appreciate all of their efforts. One day Kris was sharing with Gloria Hu that I was in need of housing and Gloria graciously offered her mother-in-law’s home in Irvine to the church at a very reasonable price.

Both Kris and Gloria worked hard to clean and furnish and decorate the home with a very nice “woman’s touch”. So clean and everything that I need. I am so grateful!

Since this is not my home I am trying to do my best to keep it clean. Cleaning is something we all prefer to avoid, but it is something that is necessary. When it comes to cleaning house, the more we neglect doing what is needed, the worse things get, and the longer it will to take to get clean again. That is the case with my new home.

As I think about cleaning house, I wonder how our hearts are like messy houses at times. On the outside we may look in order, but on the inside, our hearts may be full of clutter. The clutter of unforgiveness, bitterness, sadness, lack of joy, worry and so much more.

All this clutter makes for a huge mess behind the closed doors of our hearts. Just as putting off cleaning our homes creates chaos around us, the longer we allow our hearts to stay cluttered and messy, the more messes our bad habits make in our lives.

Thought For Today: Besides a clean house, is God nudging you to do a little heart cleaning? Any bad attitudes that need to be taken care of.

Today’s Prayer Focus: Pray that God would create in you a clean heart. Pray that God would rid you of the clutter of your heart. Deo Volente.
