Pray For One Another
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18
If you read yesterday’s devotional, you know that this week the staff is on a retreat in Palm Desert. The messages that I am sharing are on:
· Healing Hidden Hurts
· Resolving Conflict Redemptively
· Maturing Through Adversity
· Lessons on Leadership from David and Moses
· Effective Discipleship (Being and Making Disciples)
In the evenings each staff member is taking time to share how they are doing and whatever prayer request they want to share. I must say that last night’s sharing by two of our WPC staff was particularly touching. After each person shared, we gathered around, laid hands, and prayed.
The apostle Paul encouraged the first century church at Ephesus and us today to pray for one another. A great benefit and blessing of being on staff is to pray for one another. In Ephesians 6:18, Paul encourages to pray “on all occasions” and “for all the Lord’s people.”
Praying for others is a pattern that we see throughout scripture. There are so many people and situations that we can be praying for. When someone comes to mind, it may be that the Spirit is nudging you to pray. Praying may come more naturally to some than others. But all of us can pray for others. What we need is to be open to the leading of God’s Spirit.
Thought For Today: Do you pray for others? It is an important part of fulfilling Christ’s command to love one another.”
Today’s Prayer Focus: Who is the Lord nudging you to pray for today? Please continue to lift our staff and church family in prayer. Deo Volente.
