God’s Family
You are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people…..” Ephesians 2:19
On Tuesday, the staff had the opportunity to welcome Pastor Justin and his family to Orange County. We spent the morning at the Aquarium of the Pacific and then enjoyed lunch together. It was a great way to get to know our new Pastor and his family. This is a time of transition for Pastor Justin and his family and so we wanted them to feel loved, welcomed, and have a sense of belonging.
The need to belong and to be welcomed into a community is important not only for our new pastor and family but to all of us as well. Not belonging to a community or church family can result in loneliness. People may have many acquaintances but that doesn’t always result in a feeling of belonging. Through the years I have seen this happen over and over again at Wintersburg. People come to church but when they don’t find community or that sense of belonging they choose to go elsewhere.
Paul assured the early Christians in Ephesus that being “in Christ” through faith also made them part of God’s household. The same is true with us today. God’s household is called the church or the family of God.
Thought For Today: I hope you will all be at church tomorrow as Pastor Justin preaches and is voted on to become our new senior pastor. I also hope you will help him and his family to feel that they belong to our church family.
Today’s Prayer Focus: Thank God for welcoming you into God’s family. Pray that not only Pastor Justin and family will be welcomed but for all who visit Wintersburg. Deo Volente.
