Born Again
“Jesus replied, truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
I know today that I will receive some text messages and emails from friends wishing me a “Happy Spiritual Birthday.” Even though I grew up attending church worship services and Sunday School, if I were asked to explain the gospel I wouldn’t have been able to do it.
I was grateful that on October 14, 1975, my college roommate John Cummings invited his Bible study leader, Rich Madrid, to come to my dorm room and share the gospel with me using Billy Graham’s tract, “Steps To Peace With God.”
It was on that day that I was “born again” and prayed the simple prayer,
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I want to turn from my sins, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe He died for my sins and that You raised Him to life. I want Him to come into my heart and to take control of my life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord from this day forward. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
Thought For Today: Do you know that you have been “born again?” If not, you can pray the same prayer that I prayed 48 years ago today and have the assurance that you have been born again, been forgiven and have God’s free gift of eternal life.
Today’s Prayer Focus: Thank God for his son Jesus and that through him you can have a personal relationship with the risen Jesus. Deo Volente.
